Open a project in VS Code

First build the Hello application. Install the editor integration through Nexus Setup, then open the folder containing Hello.nxproject and hello.pas.

Select the context

Use the Nexus Pascal project selector to choose the project. Use Nexus: Select Build and Analysis Targets to select:

  • TargetOS: win64 on Windows or TargetOS: linux on Ubuntu.
  • TargetCPU: x86_64.
  • BuildConfiguration: Debug.

These selections are shared by NXBuild tasks and Nexus Script analysis. The editor stores them in nexusPascal.targets; a standalone file can use the same selection command without an open workspace.

Build

Run the project's Nexus build task. It invokes Nexus Build using nexusPascal.nxbuildPath. Setup normally supplies the installed executable path.

For an explicit VS Code task configuration, see Building.

Edit and debug

Open the project description to use Nexus Script diagnostics, completion, navigation, rename, and formatting. Open the Pascal source to use the Pascal language server.

Add the debug launch configuration and set a breakpoint on WriteLn. Launch the application with F5. The debugger is already bundled; a separate Microsoft C/C++ or CodeLLDB extension is unnecessary.
