THE COMPILER

Nexus Pascal

Native Pascal. A connected development system.

Nexus Pascal brings native Object Pascal compilation and its runtime into the Nexus development system. Compile applications, build compiler-native runtime packages, and use compatible native libraries with the project and workflow tools around them.

Its compiler, destination runtimes, and package SDK work as a matching toolchain. Nexus Build connects that toolchain to explicit projects and native dependencies; Nexus Code brings language services, project context, and debugging into the workspace.

Compile directly, or build a project

Use the installed nxpc driver directly for a small program. Use a Nexus Build project when you need explicit settings, dependencies, and repeatable output locations.

Keep Pascal. Bring the native ecosystem.

An important library should not force you to change your application language. Build C and C++ dependencies alongside Pascal projects with Nexus Build, then link compatible native objects and libraries into your Pascal application.

The native implementation stays in its original language. Pascal declarations or a compatible binding define the interface. NXArchive already uses this approach to bring C codec implementations into Pascal archive APIs.

This is native project integration and linking today. Direct consumption of arbitrary C++ classes/interfaces without the necessary bindings or wrappers is not currently supported.

Runtime packages with explicit identities

Choose ordinary static applications or compiler-native runtime packages. Packages combine Pascal units into native loadable images with explicit requirements and Nexus metadata. The matching SDK connects the compiler, shared runtime, startup units, and package identities.

Applications choose their package dependencies explicitly. Package support does not force every application to depend on a shared runtime.

A coordinated native toolchain

Nexus Pascal integrates external LLVM tools for assembly, linking, and resource processing. Its resource workflow includes target-aware preprocessing and compilation, with embedded resources carried alongside compiled units. The toolchain guide describes the actual tools and platform behavior.

Keep the toolchain together

Compiler backends, destination RTLs, and the package SDK belong to a matching toolchain. Nexus's installation workflow supplies the tools used for ordinary application development; building the compiler itself is a separate maintainer task.

Choose the destination deliberately

The driver selects a compiler backend and a matching destination RTL. A compiler destination does not, by itself, supply every platform SDK, native library, or packaging requirement. Consult the current platform information before choosing an application target.

In the wider ecosystem

Nexus Code brings Pascal language services, project builds, and native debugging into VS Code. Nexus Gear can use Pascal plugins through the Lua and Solar2D Native bridge, with matching target SDKs and libraries.

Foundations and attribution

Nexus Pascal builds on the Free Pascal compiler and runtime. That substantial foundation remains part of its history and implementation. Nexus develops the compiler and toolchain within its own product architecture; the capabilities and integration described above define the current product.
